Pros

Work with colleagues who are really smart, and generally collaborative and helpful. Learn about a two sided marketplace business and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of professionals (shift workers). I have personally found the actual problems we solved and the overall business to be very exciting.

Cons

Tldr: Terrible Culture; Poor Leadership Layoffs are extremely common. You’ll be working away and come back to message someone the next morning, and turns out their slack is deactivated … no announcements on what happened either. Some other well documented tactics they use to get people to leave or force out: 1. Cutting people off during mat and pat leave. Including some folks who were there for 4+ years. 2. Demoting people so they resign 3. Forcing employees in other cities to move to Sanfran or leave 4. Forcing folks to take on new responsibilities in different business functions they didn’t sign up for. It’s also often heard that the only way to get promoted is to be in Sanfran. They have a complete lack of trust that folks elsewhere are doing anything meaningful. CEO’s strategy is find the cheapest way to the top. While managing your money frugally is great, there is an issue when taken to an extreme. All loyalty and sacrifice of personal time is expected, but no loyalty is returned. The CEO will cut you to save a dime. No yearly bonus, rare yearly raises(not even inflation, literally 0% for top performers), and no job security. Your high performing employees are overworked and burnt out (as you refuse to hire more) and expected to pick up calls from leadership at 9pm on a weekend. The concepts of work-life balance or boundaries are absent. Granted there is a fear of a recession, but consistent with the theme here - there was a mass layoff of 10% despite being well funded, having raised $60M 3 months before and in their own words ‘doing really well’. Wonder what happens when they aren’t doing well. For anyone thinking of joining this company, I’d suggest otherwise. (also beware that a lot of positive reviews are by shift workers, not corporate employees)

Pros

You get to spend a lot of time dancing around like a monkey for these guys. And if you like monkeys, I guess that's a pro

Cons

There are app allows you to do absurd things. Because they don't have faith in people. And then they discriminate against you in ways which is federally illegal. But they don't care, because you'll continue to talk to AI. And when AI doesn't know what to say, it just starts repeating itself like a broken record. This app it needs updated
