Horrible for frontline workers - Anonymous employee Institute on Aging Employee Review

I have been with the team for approximately two months now, and I am happy to share that my experience has been very positive. Both my managers and coworkers have been incredibly supportive and helpful, creating a welcoming and collaborative work environment. I feel very grateful to the Institute on Aging for giving me the opportunity to join such a wonderful team.

I have not found any cons.

Meaningful work with the opportunity to support vulnerable individuals and build genuine connections with callers. The mission itself is impactful and can be rewarding on a day-to-day basis.

High-pressure environment with consistently high call volume and emotional intensity. Expectations are not always clearly defined and can shift without much notice, making it difficult to feel stable in the role. Communication can be inconsistent, and support for staff can feel limited at times. Turnover appears relatively high, which impacts team cohesion and continuity. The role can become difficult to sustain long-term due to workload, emotional demands, and lack of clear structure.
