Teacher colleagues are supportive. They care immensely about making a difference.
Cons
Administrators micromanage teachers and some have never taught. The students can be physically and verbally abusive to staff. I did not receive support when behaviors occurred. They were often excused because it is a trauma focused school. This school has a problem with consistency, consequences and follow through. Furthermore, there is no rigor for students. The students often refuse or give little effort to do any assignment which was not “fun”. The paraprofessional staff was often not helpful or supportive . They were often undereducated and on their phones or acting like friends to the students. Teachers do not have the ability to properly assess job performance on the paraprofessional staff.
