Pros
Union contract provides for overtime after 8 hours as well as a reasonable amount of holidays. Another benefit of the union contract is that it prevents some of the favoritism in cases of overtime and discipline.
Cons
Although the pay is decent to start 10 years down the road and you still make what people coming off the street make. This is a recipe for bad moral as well as plain bad performance among employees. Remember if your employer does not care about you it is most likely your employees won't care either.
