Pros
I like that Internet Brands/CarsDirect is a casual Workplace. Being able to show up in what's comfortable, rather than a suit just for the sake of wearing a suit allows me the opportunity to focus on the work in front of me. Plus, in my job I am on the phone with clients, face to face presentations would be another thing entirely. I also enjoy the flexible hours. We are given the opportunity to choose our own schedule. I deal with many clients on the east coast who are 3 hours ahead of me, so working an earlier shift is beneficial in my contacting them. In addition, it allows me a better work/life balance as I leave work earlier than I would if I worked a typical 9 to 5 schedule. El Segundo is convenient to many areas in & around LA, thus making is easy to draw employees from many areas. Plus it puts me in a great position for many errands I may be running after my regular workday.
Cons
Communication of new programs & relevant industry information could be better. Meetings are held sporadically in my department, sometimes at the beginning of the month, sometimes later in the month and sometimes not at all. Apparently raises are not considered for the first 3 years, I have never heard of this practice before. I have always been given performance reviews & raises annually at every other place I have worked prior to CarsDirect/Internet Brands. In addition, the Dealer Relations department does not get medical benefits for the first 6 months of employment, although other departments start benefits at 1 & 3 months.
