Pros

Twenty days of vacation to start out with, there locations everywhere so you might get to travel, tuition reimbursement program (if you can qualify for it).

Cons

If your company recently got bought out by Intertek, you are now basically at the bottom of a long chain of mismanagement. Rather than fully integrating their new purchases into the company, they send a couple HR people over for a few days, hand out some new handbooks and tell you how to use their timesheet/expense system that is from 1997. There is a severe communication problem between Intertek HQ and the sub companies, so you'd better hope your local HR person is decent or expect issues to take weeks before they're resolved. There's no clear advancement path, job postings on the internal job site are hardly ever updated so you don't know what else is available. If your former company is fighting any of the changes that are taking place now that they're part of Intertek, have fun standing by as nothing gets accomplished and you lose business.

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
