Pros

I’ve been at Intralinks for several years .. Have worked in various divisions/LOB’s, had the chance to travel extensively/work in different regions around the globe and covered uniquely differentiated route-to-market channels. In my experience, the company always prioritized talent management & people investment as a sacred core tenant. There are various master class offerings dedicated to “elite sales methodology”, “emerging leaders” (intermediate/entry level management) as well as “senior leaders” (advanced/senior level management). Annual SKO's and a pipeline of offsites throughout the year. Managers across the business also conduct really thoughtful career pathing exercises 1:1 where a helpful framework is employed balancing individual development w/ career planning roadmaps. End-to-end, it’s a great place to learn & develop – and that extends through various levels of the organization. On a cultural basis, the people at Intralinks is a companywide super-power. They are bright, hard working, collaborative and – everyone passes the “cocktail test” where I can genuinely say, spending time with colleagues is enjoyable inside and outside of the boardroom. The tech stack is undeniably best-in-class .. salesforce lightning, tableau, salesloft, highspot etc. So many companies face shortcomings in this quadrant where productivity tools are to-be-desired. But at Intralinks this level of investment yields huge advantages (Don’t take it for granted!). The product offering is also going through significant levels of investment and its really exciting to have selling opportunities across a true suite of products & services. VDR/Security/Fanatical Customer Success/Commercial Excellence have always been the foundation. And now, a strong suite of supplemental products/services + end-to-end deal making platforms (all infused with cutting edge AI capabilities) are drawing heavy interest from the market. Intralinks is a “small-big” company type of feel, where most of the executive team will know you on first name basis. If you are vocal and pursue projects that yield lots of visibility – it’s an environment where you can accelerate. When it comes to customers, the IL c-suite team is regularly supporting outreach and in-field execution efforts, which is another excellent way to showcase yourself as a seller. Intralinks is the type of place where you can be vocal and opinionated to a point of legitimately influencing company decision making and direction. It’s not for free .. logically, it comes at the price of your performance impact and the portfolio of skills/experiences accrued over time – all of which equate to credibility. If you are joining Intralinks or new to the company – you’ll be encouraged by the brand recognition and how willing prospects & customers are to respond and engage. There is a compelling event in the deal making side of the business that’s also extremely advantageous to pipeline build and overall viability of hitting plan/maximizing commission dollars. Fast paced, competitive and tons of “at-bats” every week. If you’re on the enterprise side, you’ll still face challenges commensurate with conventional enterprise sales however – the brand recognition goes a long way ..most economic buyers outside of M&A who sit in other functions already have a decent knowledge base or some level of exposure to Intralinks, which is another leg-up. Net/net – you get the best of both worlds on sale cycles and selling opportunities. Lastly, most competitors in the space are “one trick ponies”. They don’t have platform extensibility into dozens of use cases .. they don’t expand coverage across all asset classes in deal making … and they don’t have backing of a really deep/wide parent company where sibling BU’s can help unlock all kinds of cross-selling and referrals through customer/prospect commonality. These areas make Intralinks differentiated and a big reason why the company has maintained status as market leader.

Cons

All companies have their challenges – and, like any company, Intralinks isn’t immune to that. Today, Intralinks proximity to deal making can be a double-edged sword – especially when market volatility is high. Any business specializing in financial services is experiencing this right now. At Intralinks there’s usually always a hedge to market downturn through their enterprise channel, strong renewals & professional services growth opportunities or even through different asset classes in dealmaking. In anomaly market dynamics like 2025 when, all dimensions of market are somewhat distressed – it can be a much more demanding, higher pressure job. The transformation towards front office deal making platforms and AI infused products isn’t a con but, the pursuit is complex and challenging. If you are looking to join Intralinks I would challenge you to reflect whether you are a “culture fitter” or a “culture builder”. Moving from a legacy VDR perception to something much more robust will carry expected growing pains. Intralinks needs people who are excited and motivated to drive transformation and help contribute towards scaling the new offerings.
