Pros

Work for and experience the vibe of a big and super successful Silicon-Valley tech firm, in the laid back and healthy atmosphere of San Diego. Intuit is very people-focused (customers but also employees) and the benefits are second to none. The technology may not be on par with the top 5 tech firms but leadership is trying hard to take the transformative steps to get there. Executive leadership and engineering talent are absolutely exceptional. If you don't like what you're doing on arrival, stick it out - it's a big enough place, chances are there's a team in the company doing just what you'd like, with a culture you're compatible with. Mobility is part of the culture, it's rare to find people doing the same thing for more than a few years.

Cons

Middle management is inconsistent in its level of quality. Sometimes Intuit's egalitarian "everybody here is great and can do no wrong" culture leads to elephants in the room being ignored for way too long. Those below VP are rarely, if ever, possessed of the combination of confidence and environment needed to enable the recognition of mistakes or failed experiments. This often leads to a "play it safe" mentality, stifling innovation.

That it was a contract and they couldn’t put me on long term.

Pros

Amazing benefits and good people

Cons

Culture has shifted drastically. The expectation now is do more for less. What used to be above and beyond is now just achieving expectations. You're expected to absorb the work of everyone let go. You do 4 peoples' jobs, but the concept of promotions or pay raises is out of the question. Trust from customers and employees toward leaders is completely broken. The only prosperity being powered is the prosperity of shareholders and investors.
