Pros

If you are a golfer, there are great opportunities to travel and play complimentary golf. There is also nice benefits to travel to the business/sports clubs and have a very nice, upscale meal.

Cons

I wanted to love my job, but I knew I could do more. ClubCorp is quite large and often does not look outside of Texas, which causes a disconnect with the other clubs. They severely lack training and developing their employees. If I was given the opportunity to take a training course on how to be a GM, I may not be writing this exit review today. It is also very unfortunate that a company so large has no tools to engage employee retention. As most know, it is easier and more cost effective to retain a current member/customer than to find a new one. Same principle should be used with employees. If you invest and give back to your employees, with things like great healthcare, 401k matches, floating holidays due to always working holidays, further education funds, they are more likely to stay and be more engaged in their work. I really enjoyed the members and my coworkers, but give me a reason to stay.

Pros

Strong work-life balance compared to public accounting. Leadership is supportive and approachable. The work is meaningful and provides exposure to ASC 740, multi-entity tax provision work, and corporate tax compliance. Employees are generally encouraged to collaborate and help each other succeed.

Cons

Compensation growth may lag behind opportunities available in some areas of public accounting. Advancement opportunities can be limited due to a relatively lean tax department structure. Some processes remain heavily dependent on spreadsheets and manual workflows, which can create inefficiencies during busy periods.
