Pros

Work schedule flexibility. That's it. I guess that falls under work/life balance...

Cons

No room for advancement. Poor benefits. No job performance feedback. Non competitive pay and no room for improvement. Some departments treated well, others ignored entirely. It's all about who you know, and not what you can do or bring to the table.

Pros

Strong work-life balance compared to public accounting. Leadership is supportive and approachable. The work is meaningful and provides exposure to ASC 740, multi-entity tax provision work, and corporate tax compliance. Employees are generally encouraged to collaborate and help each other succeed.

Cons

Compensation growth may lag behind opportunities available in some areas of public accounting. Advancement opportunities can be limited due to a relatively lean tax department structure. Some processes remain heavily dependent on spreadsheets and manual workflows, which can create inefficiencies during busy periods.
