Pros

Huge National company with clubs in several states

Cons

Literally everything else. The pay was low to begin with, but after restructuring of management, they cut all PED's base salary right before Christmas and switched to a higher commission base, but still expected us to work 60+ hours a week. Classy. They don't actually train their employees or provide any support to helping them do their jobs, but rather fill their time with useless conference calls, paperwork, and garbage procedures that just get in the way of actually being able to do their jobs correctly. All of the employees are absolutely miserable and want out immediately. Higher ups don't care about their employees, and it shows. My club went through FIVE (yes, really) PED's in less than three years. Wake up, ClubCorp. You're obviously doing it wrong.

Pros

Strong work-life balance compared to public accounting. Leadership is supportive and approachable. The work is meaningful and provides exposure to ASC 740, multi-entity tax provision work, and corporate tax compliance. Employees are generally encouraged to collaborate and help each other succeed.

Cons

Compensation growth may lag behind opportunities available in some areas of public accounting. Advancement opportunities can be limited due to a relatively lean tax department structure. Some processes remain heavily dependent on spreadsheets and manual workflows, which can create inefficiencies during busy periods.
