Pros

A good working environment with great members. Clubcorp is a good place to enter the private club industry for those who are willing to put the time and effort into self learning. Steady work during a struggling economy.

Cons

Direct report manages by Hovering and Hounding. Long hours with very low pay. The "team spirit" is not encouraged. You have to sign a waiver for the 6 month wait on less than desirable benefits and if you don't contact them for your health benefits you lose them.

Pros

Strong work-life balance compared to public accounting. Leadership is supportive and approachable. The work is meaningful and provides exposure to ASC 740, multi-entity tax provision work, and corporate tax compliance. Employees are generally encouraged to collaborate and help each other succeed.

Cons

Compensation growth may lag behind opportunities available in some areas of public accounting. Advancement opportunities can be limited due to a relatively lean tax department structure. Some processes remain heavily dependent on spreadsheets and manual workflows, which can create inefficiencies during busy periods.
