Declining culture with toxic leadership and poor benefits - Product Owner 2 J.B. Hunt Transport Employee Review

Pros

It used to be a solid place to work in tech and grow professionally, but the company’s approach to layoffs (they don’t do them and also don’t fire bad talent) and its inability to retain strong talent have really changed the culture to slant toward a quality showing of ineptitude and lackadaisical natures. Poor benefits, little regard for employee feedback or new ideas, and a tendency to dismiss less-tenured employees make it feel like a place to start a career rather than build one long term. It’s good for gaining some initial growth and trying new things, but eventually most people would be better off anywhere else.

Cons

* Time off and flexibility are lacking. There’s very little recognition that employees may have family outside the area, and the resistance to remote work makes that harder. * Benefits are weak overall. Healthcare costs are high, and parental leave is minimal compared to other companies in tech. * Upper leadership often feels toxic, with little strategic vision and a heavy focus on marketing-style messaging over effective leadership and execution. * Tech leadership struggles to balance teams, budgets, and long-term strategy, and there’s very little investment in coaching or developing employees for success.

Pros

Good pay for the type of account. Salaried position. Some weeks I may only work one or two days, 8-20 hours. Other weeks I may work 60-70 hours. Great for a single guy if you don't care about a social life.

Cons

Never know what kind of schedule I would have. Changes constantly. Basically an on call truck driver.
