Pros

The discount is nice. Full time employees earn paid time off, the health insurance coverage is fairly affordable. And while this is not true of the JCP I am working for, I hear that many JCP stores try to be accommodating of schedules, especially for part-timers.

Cons

I work for Sephora inside JCP. Part of my job revolves around training and development and I am frustrated beyond belief at how unorganized everything is. The technology you are supposed to be able to utilize to make your job easier, makes everything harder. I am in my 20's and very tech savvy, and on more than one occasion I have had to cancel trainings because of tech glitches. In fact, just last week the TRL in my store had to come in on his day off because he was unable to get a new hire through her first day of training because of tech glitch. It is understandable that glitches will happen, but the amount of times I have had to rearrange my day and plans because things needed to reload, reboot, wait 24 hours, etc. is unacceptable to me. On a similar note, and admittedly it is a picky one, JCP will not fix of replace my office printer. I have to walk to the other end of the store, take the stairs or the elevator to the third floor if I want to retrieve something I have printed. While this is certainly not a big complaint, I think it is kind of ridiculous. Also, JCP and especially Sephora track every little metric you can possibly imagine, and it is expected/demanded that you meet all of these metrics. So, even if you are getting amazing scores in customer service, you will be scolded for low sales and vice versa. This is difficult for me. As basically an assistant manager, I find it hard to talk to an employee who is making a smidge more than minimum wage and has a good attitude and shows up on time about why she can't get her 'LOVE' score up and how if she can't get her score up, maybe "this isn't the right job for her." I think customer surveys are a great way to get a general idea of how your store is doing. But to get so picky as to have to have coaching sessions over an individuals scores, even if their comments are good and positive seems so ridiculous. If these sales associates were making a lot of money, or knew they were signing up for a high pressured sales job, then okay. But who is going to work 15 hours a week for a little bit above minimum wage? College students, or adults looking for a second job. When all of the trouble it takes just to get numbers on a piece of paper to reflect the numbers corporate is looking for is gone through, it just doesn't come out to being worth it, in my opinion.

Great Maintenance department with a great team of Managers and Senior technicians to learn from each day.

Cons

Pay was low for the work load.

Pros

its a good starter job for someone in high school

Cons

schedule would change at the drop of a hat without being asked about availability. supervisors never answered their phones if you needed to contact them
