Pros

Co-workers, Co-workers , co workers

Cons

Upper Management -The Head of HR has consistently demonstrated a concerning lack of experience and professionalism in managing the department. Communication is frequently delayed, with responses to even basic employee concerns taking far longer than reasonably expected. This has created unnecessary frustration among staff and reflects poorly on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function. Additionally, there appears to be a significant lack of knowledge regarding standard HR practices, employee relations, and the leadership responsibilities expected of someone in such a senior role. Rather than providing guidance, structure, and support, the department often feels disorganized and unprepared under her leadership. A Head of HR should set the standard for professionalism, responsiveness, accountability, and competence. Unfortunately, those standards are not currently being met. The overall handling of employee matters has raised serious concerns regarding the department’s credibility and effectiveness. During my tenure with the organization, I have worked with several HR leaders and have never experienced this level of dysfunction. In the relatively short period since her employment began, the corporate HR department has experienced more than eight resignations, which raises additional concerns about leadership stability, employee morale, and departmental culture. The owners should recognize that the real issue is poor leadership and ineffective management. Strong leadership starts with accountability.

Pros

This is based on my direct experience. I joined expecting a fast pace, but the level of disorganization, churn, and pressure was beyond what I consider reasonable for a professional environment. You will learn quickly because you are forced to. If you are highly independent, comfortable working with ambiguity, and willing to chase answers nonstop, you can build resilience and sharpen your problem solving skills. There are a few genuinely hardworking people who try to do the right thing, even when the environment makes it difficult.

Cons

Ugly levels of disorganization. Priorities change constantly, and information is fragmented or not documented, which creates a cycle of rework and fire drills. Extremely heavy workload with unrealistic timelines and limited support. It often feels like you are expected to deliver outcomes without the tools, staffing, access, or time needed to do it correctly. Poor cross functional partnership. Basic follow through is inconsistent, so you spend a lot of time chasing approvals, chasing data, and cleaning up avoidable issues. Leadership communication can be unclear or inconsistent, and accountability is uneven. That creates confusion and burnout, especially in roles that touch compliance, payroll, vendors, or employee facing programs. The culture can feel cold and transactional. It is not an environment that consistently supports collaboration, coaching, or psychological safety.
