I have found that competency can create tremendous competitiveness that manifests itself negatively. I perceive that the level of accountability is not consistent across the same job titles. My experience is that roles & responsibility are fluid and for the most part, you are just expected to do what your manager tells you - take a risk at your own peril and suffer the backlash. You have to really believe in an idea to be willing the resistance.
Leaders are only managers and above. There is quite a bit of external ego at the middle management level. Makes it hard to work with and have to show proper submissiveness.
What I wrote above is normal in most organizations - I hope for more out of JM Family.
