Pros

Good food in cafe Some really good people Reliable compensation

Cons

What is happening in IT? Some very weird promotions and departures over the past 1-2 years or so. JM seems to have COVID. A lot of departures that no one saw coming. Why has the culture declined so much? The ‘family’ in IT is dysfunctional. Promotions do not in any way map to capability. Unsure why CIO makes the decisions he does - appear to not be rooted in true business value. We continue to have lots of good conversations but I can’t in any way understand some of the recent position promotions. There are so many directors who essentially provide minimal value. I don’t even understand the EA function - what have they actually done in past 5 years? All we seem to do is swap out technology. I guess that is good for the vendor ecosystem. I don’t think our delivery teams could move any slower - their leaders seem to just fight all the time. They are full of contractors but not held accountable to actively execute, forget about delivering.

Pros

JM provides good opportunities for the range of professional corporate occupations available in South Florida.

Cons

Too much "get along, go along" culture which may be okay if one is planning to stay with JM through retirement, but is not helpful if one's career progression involves employment with other companies. As a rule, the best places I worked at encouraged creativity, systems thinking, adaptability, integrity, and trust. These values felt lacking during my six-month tenure at JM back in 2014.
