Pros
Some friendly coworkers. Guaranteed pay increase every year. Decent benefits and pension.
Cons
Social workers are piled with responsibilities and tasks while case managers do a lot less and get paid more. No team work between case managers and social workers. Some nurses don’t treat social workers with respects. The nursing directors on the floor do nothing but bring patients and families straight to the social worker without trying to see first how they can assist. They have rounds that are used as a blame game to humiliate and put social workers on the spot because patients that have seriously no solution have not left the hospital. Also not easy to get days off, they ask questions and make you feel guilty about it. Easy to burn out.
