Pros
Nearly all of your co-workers at your level become immediate friends and help whenever a problem arises with any assignment. As a matter of fact, most of your co-workers, unless of course, you pass your retirement age, will remain friends until it is time to retire. Benefits are excellent, especially if you are someone one the medical rather than the administrative employees of the hospital. Retirement is a benefit, which today is an imperative -but you must work for them for at lease ten years. The location is ideal. The campus is large and interacts with the University of Miami Hospital. You don't have to work more than a block off campus if you want to for lunch or dinner. Cafeteria food is terrific with a great sushi bar and international food court. Parking is a great benefit even if you have to pay for it. It is considerably less than for hospital guests and is in covered parking which is great in summer.
Cons
Jackson is a government facility and must follow rules for government medical facilities. It's budget is created by the city and sometimes that means that raises are less than desired. If the hospital cannot stay within budget, cuts come quickly. I was lucky, my position was needed even during heavy staff cuts.
