Better opportunities exist; avoid unless you are sold on the small town life. - Engineer Jacobs Employee Review

Pros

Good coworkers on project level. Small town life. Semi close to a lot of major towns for events and such. Decent compensation for a small town, but getting a promotion usually means hopping on the management track and getting into the good old boy network.

Cons

Small town life. Promotions and what is required to earn them is not clearly communicated. Management demonstrates a good old boy vibe. Expect to be asked to perform above and beyond your job duties if you get tasks accomplished, with no increase in pay. Biggest con is no direct contract driven competitor in the area for job comparison. Hopefully our job market is moving towards salaries being more readily comparable irrespective of where the job is based to remedy this.

Pros

Love the culture and the people.

Cons

The health insurance no longer covers GLP-1 or other weight-loss related medications (specifically excludes them), which I find appalling. They did cover it, but then removed coverage for all company plans. The benefits of weight-loss and obesity-related medical coverage are so high for employers and yet Jacobs decided not to care about their employees who need them.
