Pros

Very organized. All SOP spelled out clearly so no way to go wrong. Have a team of long service super committed middle management who are as close as family. Staff at the store are engaged and supportive to the middle management.

Cons

Top management stays at the top and not communicating with the front liners. Decision made without taking staff's opinion into consideration. Company strategy very conservative and product oriented, consumer behavior been neglected. Staff welfare not treated as priority and no HR department to manage the 2000 employees. Remuneration package never been revise for more than 20 years.

Incredibly diverse range of businesses and cultures. Strong family values and highly collegiate colleagues. Exceptional professional development, especially management and leadership development.

Cons

Huge (almost 500,000 employees), quite old fashioned in some ways and very relationship-based. Ambiguous relationship between businesses and between them and the corporate Centre.
