Pros

- Greater work responsibilities as an analyst helps faster skill-set development - Not a cutthroat environment among junior team members

Cons

- Poor communication between MDs down the chain, resulting in VPs and SVPs creating unnecessary and time-consuming work - Virtually no client interaction for junior team members (associates & analysts) - Lack of mentorship / leadership from senior team members to analysts - Waste time on unrealistic pitch ideas to legacy leaders while failing to identify promising lower-profile opportunities for future deal pipeline - Human Resources for Investment Banking unhelpful - when employees bring issues to their attention, HR has often blamed employees instead of exploring issues raised - Homogenous workforce with little to no attempt at improving diversity

Pros

Supportive firm-wide culture; competitive pay; surrounded by some of the smartest people you'll ever meet.

Cons

Like most banking jobs, incredibly long hours. Group specific: culture can be poor / not well supported, poor organization / staffing at group level.
