Pros
- Flexible working hours, ability to work remote from home - Above average compensation - Partners are well established, many knowledgeable experts
Cons
- Primary focus seemed to be expanding services and having a nationwide presence, rather than concentrating efforts and resources on building up one region at a time. Seemed to be a quantity vs. quality approach. - After multiple acquisitions, JH now consists of a collection of unrelated businesses with little overlap. The merger actually made things worse for me, since the company slogan did not really fit the needs of some potential clients I was marketing to. - Nonstop internal accounting and billing headaches. Frequent miscommunication between JH and the legacy companies. - Too corporate-like, which means it takes forever to get formal approval on simple things such as adding website content or posting announcements on social media. - Difficult to grow a practice with limited resources. Too many budget restrictions led to me watching competitors collect truckloads of work from the sidelines. - Some equipment provided to employees were "hand me downs". The local police investigator owns a more advanced camera than what I was initially given. - Old fashion schemes, we are still asked to cold call potential clients to generate business.
