Pros
- The company hires very smart people directly out of school, and it hires managers out of top MBA programs - Access to online learning tools that allows one to learn skills such as SQL, marketing, etc. - Snacks in the office and a stipend for lunch twice a week. Additionally there is a free gym membership to crunch
Cons
- The position has limited opportunity for growth. Unless you find a way to move to another team (marketing, retail analytics, etc.), you will get stuck in this role. - The day-to-day work is more about data maintenance than actual thinking and problem solving. After about 3-6 months, most categories get built out. This results in the job becoming an endless process of begging vendors for funding and updating new/existing SKU PDPs. - As mentioned by others, the review process is all about optics. Even if your category is performing well, it mainly depends on your relationship with your manager. Additionally, the company reviews its associates on a bell curve. This promotes perverse incentives - coworkers become overly competitive and the biggest “teacher’s pets” thrive.
