Pros

There was good camaraderie amongst workers, but I find it hard to credit ANY company for that; that's an organic phenomenon that often develops IN SPITE of an outside agitator. Otherwise, the pay was competitive and the company did offer decent benefits options.

Cons

Take a few minutes and read all the reviews on this website about this company. Everything you need to know can be found in these reviews. But instead of focusing on the specifics, look at the big picture. Reviews written by management are shining, while reviews from the the folks in the trenches are lukewarm, at best. That's life at Joerns, in a nutshell. I know this is the "cons" section, but it's worth stating that some members of management here are actually good at what they do. It seems that others, however, were elevated into position merely out of seniority. This company holds seniority in VERY high regard, and while I can't officially speak to whether or not seniority strongly influences hiring decisions, I CAN say with authority that that is the prevailing trend. It's tempting to say it's TOO prevalent, but anyone who sticks through this kind of abuse for any significant length of time deserves SOME kind of kickback. Typical workday involves sifting through hundreds of emails (that's not hyperbole; in a typical 24-hour span, I would receive approximately ONE THOUSAND emails) that may or may not even pertain to you, triaging everything that DOES pertain to you, and manually processing and analyzing never-ending inventory shortage issues that could surely have been automated at any point in the 20th century. You constantly feel like a hamster on a wheel; working, sweating, huffing and puffing, never getting anywhere. How a rental business stays operational without adequate product to actually rent out is beyond me. No amount of effort seemed to improve anything, and efforts to at least streamline processes were often not taken seriously by anyone with authority to enact change. Antiquated modes of communication were perpetutated in spite of more efficient/ubiquitous/current options. Impossible deadlines were approached with entirely to much braun and not enough brain. You often catch yourself yelling at other people, and it's usually because they started yelling at you, and that's usually because you probably yelled at them yesterday, and it's all about problems that neither of you can even control in the first place, and the whole thing makes me want to watch "Glengarry Glen Ross" or "Office Space" and say to myself "That seems like a nice job." If you function well in a high-pressure/low-reward environment in which you are forced to do more and more every day with fewer and fewer resources, this is the place for you!

Pros

You get to work with some great peers along with being remote. Decent work/life balance, too.

Cons

Pretty much everything else. The pay is very low for the amount of tasks continuously thrown on you due to the mass amount of lay offs, firings, and those who voluntarily quit. CEO who took over in July 2024 has been running the company into the ground since then and has continuously done worse. Products aren't even that good and cost premiums for the customers. Upper management refuses to see they are the problem but will continue to let go of anyone who isn't immediately a 'yes man'. They refuse to see any idea all the way through and if it doesn't immediately change the course of the company around, it's ditched and they move on. CEO also makes up numbers to make themself look good but will send you on a wild goose chase first. Overall, would absolutely not recommend this company though will be shocked if they continue to stick around since revenue is so low.
