Pros

Great benefits package. Non-stressful work environment. The educational benefits that APL furnishes its employees is phenomenal. This is the type of place where you will be taken care of into retirement should you decide to spend your entire career working here. The managers are real down to earth people (or at least mine and the ones that I came into contact with were) and they challenge you technically while still allowing you to have a flexible work schedule. There are also a lot of very technically talented people at APL and it is a pleasure to be have the opportunity to work with them.

Cons

Old fashioned work. Some people don't work that hard.

Cons

Whim-based supervision with no consistent written standard A culture where informal practice overrides written policy selectively Professional development systematically blocked A management structure that documents against you while leaving comparators uncorrected The psychological cost of having to document every interaction just to protect yourself
