Pros

Salaries are OK for the automotive market, you have opportunity to work with some very smart and promising individuals in a boot camp environment. Company was and is in some cases still is a leader in technologies in their various market segments, and tends to be the market leader in most segments. Recruiters like JCI employees, since they know they recruit strong candidates and run them into the ground, so any next position seems like a dream position.

Cons

Company is obsessed with short term earnings, and is ruthless in pursuit of same. Constant turnover; typical to see in power systems (battery) turn over of the same management position every 12 to 18 months. Loyalty from top down is nonexistent, if you are not delivering results (under your control or not) you can expect to be ridden hard or even terminated, regardless of the reason you are not attaining desired results. Lots of decisions made based on who is friends with who in management - some politically connected parties skate through crises while new employees with out sponsors get slaughtered. Would be very wary about pursuing employment with this company - much better options out there in the current market. I left and have never looked back with any regret.

Pros

Decent base pay and fast paced work makes the days go by quickly. Lately the company has been actually investing in their new product lines ever since Joakim became our CEO.

Cons

The compensation is lacking. No bonuses whatsoever for senior level engineers even when they're recognized as a key contributor on the team. We are given our 401k match on March 1st to cover the previous year's matches so you lose out on a lot of the year's market gains. The healthcare coverage is mediocre at best for a fortune 500 company. The raises are still given like it's 2018; 3% is considered a "good" merit increase. This is due to the "forced distribution" merit increase system where only "so many" people can receives "above expectations" raises.
