Pros

People are nice and the atmosphere is easy going between restructurings. Leadership is pleasant and pay is better than some similar private jobs within the county. You can perform average and stay on as a great employee its far from cut throat just do your work and be pleasant.

Cons

Constant restructuring. I have been with the agency for several years now and its the system is always changing. It is difficult to get a clear message as to where things are going because even the people above you say they need to get back to you. Your not going to be recognized or promoted for amazing work you will be treated the same as the person who does average.

Pros

The benefits are very good and it can be meaningful work.

Cons

There are often high caseloads and leadership can be very mistrusting of employees with little accountability. Some supervisors are appropriate with employees and focused on helping their team do good work. Other supervisors are highly emotional and create unnecessary stress for their employees due to contributing to this culture of mistrust and micromanagement. There was a constant concern of supervisors searching for persons “gossiping” that led to secrecy, employees turning on one another, and took time away from important work serving the community. Career opportunities are limited by what supervisor you work for.
