Pros

Close knit family/team approach to care, excellent team work amongst co-workers. Patient safety is priority among caregivers. UNC's recent acquisition of this rural hospital system may improve it's services offered and may decrease nurse/patient ratios and improve benefit packages offered.

Cons

Nurse to patient ratio is somewhat high in the inpatient areas, especially at night with a lack of clinical support such as CNA's mostly at night when ratios can sometimes reach 7:1 or 8:1 when that clinical support is needed. Organizational structure is not conducive to career advancement, and sometimes executive decisions result in a delay in care or poor patient outcomes.

Pros

There are some amazing people in the Radiology department. The CEO is truly phenomenal, but that's the only person in management hospital wide that is actually trying to make the place better. If he knew what was really going on I do feel like he would try to make positive changes.

Cons

Awful management with zero support on any front. The director, manager, and their immediate superior are more decorative than functional. They threaten you, often. There is no reward for hard work or dedication and the poor employees are often celebrated for doing the basics of their jobs. Absolutely no work life balance, they'll call you day and night to come in even if you're scheduled to be off. If the person coming in after you calls out or is late then you're expected to stay and work a 24hr shift, no matter what you have going on at home. Promises are made with no follow through. No opportunity for growth or development in your career. There is not enough money in all of the world that would ever make me consider going back to the dumpster fire this place is. It's honestly more of a zoo than an actual healthcare facility. Enter, only if you dare.
