Pros
This was my return to the workforce after many years of being a stay at home mom position. I accepted the offer because I was able to control my schedule and my travel distance as I had other outside obligations I had to consider. It was wonderful to be able to Have this control because my home schedule varies. I have been with the company for a little over two years now, and I love it! I have met so many wonderful families. I have engaged with so many children, some of which have some language and or other delayed issues. By bringing in craft projects for them I have been able to engage them, gain their trust in a short amount of time, and make them feel comfortable and happy while I’m caring for them. I love arts and crafts and it’s wonderful to be able to engage with the children and show them some different artistic ways of expressing themselves and also help them to make them feel comfortable while I’m there. Most of my families at this point are repeat families so I’ve developed a very close relationship with them. And the staff does support me when I need to make changes to my schedule and/or accommodate request for my schedule with families. It has been extremely rewarding for me.
Cons
Since I am a back up care provider, it can be a little challenging at times when it’s a last minute assignment however that’s the nature of the job because you are providing back up care when somebody’s usual Caregiver situation isn’t available for that day. However, the staff is considerate and giving me a heads up as soon as they know.
