Pros

Work from home (but not even reasonably any longer)

Cons

- Corporate, profit first mindset. - students/teachers come LAST - Leadership agendas are pushed for self-promoting admin to pad their resumes and climb their career ladder - Head of School believes teachers signed up for a low salary when choosing to be educators - Work is farmed out to teachers with minimal or no stipends when someone rightfully leaves after having enough - Sped Admin fall in step with who is in power rather than doing what is right for students - Data that determines decisions is skewed to fit the admin’s agenda. - Research based decisions are not made to support students - Admin are severely disconnected from the the teaching role, with many of them having never taught in a classroom. - Teacher turnover due to monstrous caseloads - Increased expectations for SY 21-22 to work from home yet have your family/children be required to be out of the house. Write ups will result following single offenses. - awful benefits - high micromanagement (do you like sending screenshots proving you did your job? Do you like having your active keystrokes tracked to monitor you like big brother? This is what next year is bringing) - No state retirement - if you’ve read this far, stop and run

Pros

Great collaboration with highly professional colleagues who truly care about teaching and education. Work remotely.

Cons

Insufficient training for the many responsibilities of the position. Insufficient follow-up from the upper administration on said responsibilities. Workload increased to levels that made completion of said workload difficult (with putting in extra hours without added compensation) to basically impossible. Difficult to change roles (at least, in my position). Many additional hours away from the classroom, which greatly disrupted educational continuity.
