Pros

KIPPLA pays its teachers really well compared to LAUSD. Also, KIPP Scholar Academy is able to attract a great, diverse faculty.

Cons

KIPP Scholar Academy has the absolute worst administrative team I have ever encountered. They have no true behavioral management systems in place and attempt to manage their students' behavior by yelling and physically intimidating them. The school's chaotic culture breeds disrespect towards teachers and prevents rigorous learning. If you walk through the school hallways, all you hear are overwhelmed teachers yelling at students and trying to maintain order in their classrooms. Academics are not a priority at this school and they have extremely low academic expectations. In the 2014-15 school year: 3 of their teachers resigned midyear. 50+ students withdrew from the school midyear About 25% of their staff are not coming back next school year.

Pros

While they did have access to a lot of materials, they never seem to have access to the right materials. I was able to develop programs and get resources my students needed.

Cons

Terrible administration with no experience, terrible budgeting, terrible managing other teachers, refused many times to get supplies. Students needed refused work, brakes or lunch breaks, never offered support known for not having a lot of returning teachers because of the culture and climate, focused heavily on teachers being compliant to them not to the students, was worried more about having power over teachers by inflicting. Long days. Lots of deliverables and a lot of busy work that benefit of upper management or management way more than it ever benefited students or teachers. Seem to support more management than they ever did Parents or teachers or students
