Working at KLAS Research has become an exercise in navigating a sinking ship where the leadership has effectively abandoned the helm. The Captain (CEO) has essentially locked himself away in his quarters, rarely appearing in the office and leaving the First Mate (President) to flounder about. Rather than addressing the structural holes causing the company to take on water, the President’s seemingly only strategy has been to execute (lay-off) large swaths of the crew. These are the very employees who were actually bailing the water and trying to keep the vessel afloat. Under the President's leadership, the company has shrunken by half, and the remaining staff have been told by middle management to expect even further contractions in employee headcount. There is no plan in place to address any of the holes that are causing issues for the company. The internal culture has shifted from collaboration to a state of managed fear. Those spared from the most recent layoffs are being told by their direct managers to keep their heads down, remain silent about internal issues, and perform a public show of full confidence in an executive team that has VERY clearly lost its way. The most damning indictment of the current state of affairs is that many managers are now quietly advising their teams to find new jobs, admitting that under the current leadership, the company will not be around much longer. This exodus of talent has created a massive operational gap. Following the latest round of cuts, there is simply no way for the company to deliver on the research and services already sold to clients, but there appears to be no plan to solve this problem. Executives seem content to sacrifice the long-term stability and reputation of KLAS for short-term balance sheet gains, leaving both employees and clients stranded.
