Pros

KLAS has some very good people working here. There's a high level of integrity and people genuinely want to make a difference in healthcare IT. KLAS has a niche product and there's virtually no competition in our specific space but it can lead to complacency. This is a good place for recent college grads who want to learn the healthcare IT industry...but be prepared for a very rigorous schedule. KLAS has a good revenue growth track record. (Although this year has been flat so far.)

Cons

We are experiencing growing pains and I'm not 100% confident that the current leadership can get us through them smoothly. We've lost some high caliber people over the last year and it felt like they weren't being valued by the founders and those who have been promoted over the years. Leadership can get caught up in doing things the way we've always done them and there's little value on new ideas or ways to make us better. I hear the lip service of "best idea wins", but rarely is it backed up with action. There's a joke around here about it taking two years to see a good idea implemented and the person who came up with the idea is gone by then. We're so busy doing things the same way (work/life balance is difficult here at KLAS) that we don't pause long enough to rethink our processes. And when we do come up with ideas...they just don't go anywhere because we're too busy. I think it's a lack of leadership skills vs. any ulterior motives or "turf protection", but I've seen some people with a lot of experience get frustrated by an archaic approach to the business. I have a number of years of selling experience and this is a different kind of sale, but I think we make it harder than we have to. Ideas of streamlining just aren't valued because there's too much fear of risking our brand. KLAS is very risk averse which can be a 'safe' place to work. But if you have an entrepreneurial spirit about you...this is not the place.

Pros

The mission of the company is noble and needed. Coworkers are caring, bright, and hardworking individuals.

Cons

While the company mission is admirable, it is now consistently overshadowed by a drive for money over all, a lack of consistent messaging, and poor leadership. Tools are so far behind that leadership has placed huge bets on AI, which continues to disappoint and underwhelm. When once the company looked within for talent to train and promote, we now hire more from the outside, particularly for senior leadership, which has been disastrous for morale and culture. Layoffs have eroded trust not only because now there is too much work for everyone else to absorb (with poor tools all around), but also because our current leadership doesn’t understand the overall mission or individual and team responsibilities. Leadership messages are chaotic. Managers don’t know how to cover for senior leadership missteps, training is abysmal, and many are looking for employment elsewhere. We’ve already lost great talent, and more losses are looming.
