Pros
The college allowed student tutors to chose their own hours, and those could be changed week-by-week if need be. You got paid to stay in the tutoring center, rather than by the number of students you helped. If you had downtime, you could always just do your own homework. The tutoring center is in the library (at least on the Newtown campus), making it easy to source materials if needed in a physical format.
Cons
Since no one was required to keep regular hours, students had a 50-50 chance of actually finding a tutor, or finding the tutor they wanted to see. Most tutors were concious of this, and kept regular hours, but still sometimes weren't there for their own reasons.
