Pros
The schedule is great. The 4-3-3-4 schedule is what keeps most of us working here. Fair 401k match. Tuition reimbursement for college (unfortunately it's only towards degrees related to your job and won't cover, for instance, certified Fanuc robotics training costs). Yearly allowance for HSA savings account. Some holidays off. Generous CTO benefit (at least for now, we'll see if they take that away too). Pay is pretty good but it also took me over 10 years to get to where I'd be at nearby plants in about 2-3 years. The work schedule allows for plenty of quality time with my family and hobbies which is the ONLY thing that keeps me here after all these years.
Cons
This place has really gone downhill since the merger. No opportunity for advancement. No clear path for advancement. Zero training is given to technicians but are expected to have a permanent fix in 5 mins . Their version of training is to look at an operator manual on a "portal" that's extremely slow and looks like something from 1995. Promotions and performance raises are 100% chosen on the buddy system and not actual performance. Health insurance is really bad. Super high deductible and constantly fighting with them to pay for basic things. The work itself is not bad, but is made awful by management. Maintenance gets yanked all over the place due to gross understaffing. Seriously, the "worker" to "clipboard holder who contributes no real value" is at about a 1:8 ratio. At any given time, you'll get to look up from the hot plant floor at management watching you from their air conditioned offices watching you work during one of their 400 useless meetings everyday. Remember that scene from Willy Wonka? Yeah it's like that but worse. Plant is very hot, almost unbearably. They have A/C but don't run it out of cheapness and seeming lack of care for their employees which further contributes to the toxic work environment. Leadership leads through cracking whips, making demands, causing every department focused on shifting accountability/blame to others rather than actually leading. Very understaffed, although they'll tell you otherwise, but will still complain when lines are sitting down waiting for a maintenance guy to get freed up. Quality is suffering, all the good employees are leaving in hoards. Not much else to say. Sadly, this place has turned into another dead end job and is one new plant opening away from losing all their employees. Maintenance is seriously treated like garbage. If you're a maintenance guy looking for a job, seriously keep looking. You'll be relied on for about everything and blamed for everything. Training operators, clearing jams, filling out 100 pieces of redundant paperwork/boards, all of which takes away from doing real maintenance work and then get blamed for equipment not running at 80% OEE when it was ever only commissioned for 62ish% with almost no equipment improvements since inception and virtually no engineering support.
