Pros

You want access to a VNA that goes above 100 GHz+ to test something, go ahead. Some of the best SMUs, Spectrum Analyzers and more. Access to tons of design software that you’re used to otherwise shelling multiple grands for. All engineers have access to Keysight software. The legacy of the HP days is alive and well. You get to work on the either design, testing, modeling, production assurance of ICs/Modules/Test Equipment that regularly exceed 50+ GHz. If you’re an EE and that doesn’t excite you I really don’t know what to say. Keysight designs the test equipment that determines the bleeding edge technology. Because of that, Keysights own equipment have to be even ahead of that. Keysight had the 8510 working at 26.5 GHz in the mid 1980s and they’ve continued to innovate. The things modern day Keysight does will continue to be used by the rest of the world for decades to come.

Cons

Manufacturing and Quality Control are really thankless and hated on jobs at most companies. Keysight is no exception. Data analysis and things like Statistical Process Control in Manufacturing Sciences are largely hampered by a total disinterest in using modern database and ETL systems. Computing services for non design engineers is really poor. Software developers who work in production environments and not in external software development have setups that are largely lagging behind the industry, more reminiscent of the early 2000s. We might make some of the finest boxes and below in the market, but for some of the lower level material they way we manufacture it, while high precision, is still stuck in the 1980s, and with most managers either apathetic or actively rejecting modernization and change, whether using cost as an excuse or disinterest.

Pros

One star for the amazing people, one star for paycheck.

Cons

When I left, it took at least a month to decompress from the toxicity. KGM reorgs were a regular occurrence (5 in a 2-year span, for example) resulting in colleagues reappearing in roles in which they have no experience or disappearing all together. This created a culture of constant backstabbing and insecurity. Leadership picked favorites, ignoring the talents of many and this was reflective in bonuses. They undervalue and lose a lot of talented people, and it continues in spite of their recent positive quarterly reports. Reactionary marketing strategies result in a lot of wasted time and work. Read the rest of the reviews before taking on a role here. You will see a pattern.
