Pros
The relationships you build with your clients and their families are very rewarding. They become like family. Received multiple raises during my time there. Bonuses were given during the beginning of Covid. Was promoted and moved up fast multiple times.
Cons
Upper Management will target certain people and treat them unfairly. Overtime is abundant and mandated because they are always short staffed all of the time. Sometimes you can get stuck at work for multiple days in a row without going home. Shifts can last up to 4 days at a time or longer. 90-120 hours of work per week can be expected of some supervisory and DSP staff. The upside is that you have scheduled sleep hours. There is no work-life balance. Your family will suffer. Upper Management gives no support to Operations Management. The amount of responsibility is enormous and it just keeps growing and growing. Everyone in every position is overworked and burnt out. The turn over rate for Administration positions are fast and consistent. You never know who your supervisor is or who is covering for your supervisor. There are never ending investigations going on. There is no attendance policy that is enforced. Some employees have habitual tardiness, and poor attendance and nothing ever happens to those employees. Very disorganized in many aspects. Policy changes and/or 6400 Regulation changes are not properly presented and rolled out with proper amounts of time or the proper training for the new change. Training is not conducted with qualified employees. Company vehicle maintenance and breakdowns are handled by supervisory staff dropping off vehicles at garages, and making arrangements for vehicle coverage, while simultaneously handling client and staffing schedules, and working direct care shifts, and possibly being on call for 5 or 6 other homes at the same time. There is not a Fleet Management system in place that picks up the vehicles, has them serviced, and returns them and provides a rental in the mean time. They have a good mission, but not enough manpower in place to make it happen.
