Pros

The money is ok for the job itself. If you do not want to push too hard and just want part time job, it pays well. You can gain some good experience *if* your direct management is good. Meals provided on shift (quality varies massively depending on if you work morning, evening or night).

Cons

From the start they have a terrible culture when it comes to community. When you first start your job here you will notice no one says hello or asks you name, it's just heads down. You will not know who anyone in each department is for the longest time unless you go out of your way to find out, very different from all the either workplaces I have been at as most places go out of their way to find out who new faces are. Interdepartmental relations are poor with terrible communication. If you need to rely on another department for anything you better hope you find the odd manager that cares enough about the place OR hope you fostered a good enough relation with someone who can help you as there is a lot of pettiness unprofessionalism that can hinder the ability to perform your job. High turnover of staff depending on the department. The main issue for me was the absolute lack of protection from upper management when it came to guests. Regular stayers or guests with large contracts can bully staff into getting what they want at any time (staying in the restaurant/bar after closing, drinking past being drunk, getting meals comped after yelling at staff). They tend to get worse with time because if they get told no, someone higher will say yes and the guest knows they can get away with anything.

Long hours, carpal tunnel syndrome, potential breakfast shifts, inescapable conversations with hotel guests.
