Pros

Kindred, during the years 2005-2015 about..was THE place to work at.I was fortunate to experiecne those years. The benefits were good, culture was awesome, location like an art museum to go into.If you wer ein technology they trained you on latest/greatest stuff, brought any hardware or software to keep up with the market. People liked their work, supported each other and worked as teams. In short, it will be on top of the list of the best places i've ever worked at.

Cons

Closer to 2012-2013, they started to yank benefits. There was no 401k,raises were barely noticeable(sometimes you got none), passion for technology tanked with more outsourcing and crappy vendor products, people started to work from home a lot (a benefit one would say but did great damage to team spirit and culture). It is a pale shadow of its former days, very sad to see.

Pros

The people I worked with.

Cons

I can say this now that I no longer work there: Kindred was both one of the best and one of the worst places I've ever worked. On one hand, I learned an incredible amount and gained valuable experience that helped me grow as a nurse. On the other hand, I spent nearly every shift worried about the safety of my nursing license due to what I felt were unsafe staffing ratios, some* poor leadership, and decisions that often seemed driven more by finances than patient care. I repaid my sign-on bonus on March 6, yet I'm now receiving letters claiming the payment was never received and threatening legal action. Fortunately, I have proof that the payment was made. What makes this especially frustrating is that I ultimately left because the stress of working there contributed to serious health issues, including a heart condition. I've attached the resignation letter I submitted when I left, as well as my ECG’s I took from my watch while working that resulted in me going to the ER the next day. Everyone's experience is different, but based on my own experience, I would strongly encourage nurses to do their research before accepting a position with Kindred Hospitals or Scion.
