Ratios are 1:6, this has happened to me several times in high-obs, where the ratio should be 1:3. These patients are vented, trach’d and potentially on drips. They are still paper charting. This causes higher chances of medication errors. Discharges and admissions are very unorganized. Their Charge Nurse Kris, is overbearing and will talk behind your back to other nurses. Toya is their other charge nurse. She’s very calm and pleasant. Management is TERRIBLE. There’s a new DON Timesha, who has written up the majority of staff and hasn’t taken the opportunity to get to know staff, let alone speak or check-in with them. The COO is Latoria, she has grown in her role but she was a lot at first as well. The New CEO Judy has threatened to confiscate phones if she catches people on them. I can honestly say nurses are working so hard on the floor no one really sits down or takes breaks. You also get written up if you don’t take a lunch break. There is a weird dynamic between respiratory and nurses. Respiratory will NOT suction when asked. The bottom line, nurses are expected to carry all of the weight. No one else is held accountable. If you speak up they don’t like it and if you’re quiet they don’t like that either. Therapy will disappear with your patient before you have the chance to assess them. This is so dangerous. And don’t ask dietary for anything extra for your patient because they will give you MAJOR attitude. Run for the hills. Don’t work here.
