Pros

I truly enjoy my work as a bailiff in King Count Superior Court, and appreciate the latitude I have to manage my day to day tasks. Bailiffs work directly for their Judge, yet support other courtrooms as able when their courts are not in session.

Cons

There is very little training when becoming a bailiff, so you must be able to learn on the fly, and pick up a great variety of tasks quickly, and work well both independently, as well as in coordination with others. Although it is nice to work directly for your Judge, that also means you are an at-will employee, and not guaranteed employment if your Judge leaves the bench. Coverage while you are out of the office can be quite challenging, as well.

Pros

Came to Rail from another division in the county, so much better than certain customer facing divisions. Work like balance and hybrid model are great. Lots of room for advancement in the admin world if you want it.

Cons

Can feel like you’re being micro managed or watched from the top at times but middle management is usually good at mitigating this.
