Good pay, good team; lots of bureaucracy, too much talk (need more walk) and overall just too much work - Program Mansger King County Employee Review

Pros

Great pay and benefits. Direct teammates are great. Lots of stability in union represented positions.

Cons

King County really talks the talk and it seems they’d like to imagine themselves as an organization doing their part on ESJ. There’s a lot of emphasis on ESJ, but it’s not actually played out in reality. Any PPMIII or higher is expected to work well over 40 hours a week to do the bare minimum expectations of their job. The work is very leadership heavy, you won’t have much autonomy over your work as depending on the Council and Executive’s thoughts things can change on a dime, and not necessarily for the better.

Pros

Came to Rail from another division in the county, so much better than certain customer facing divisions. Work like balance and hybrid model are great. Lots of room for advancement in the admin world if you want it.

Cons

Can feel like you’re being micro managed or watched from the top at times but middle management is usually good at mitigating this.
