Pros
The pay is competitive, sometimes pretty good. The benefits are very good and very LGBT friendly.
Cons
Work-Life balance does not exist. Those overtime opportunities I mentioned above? Try mandatory overtime. On call 24/7 for weeks straight. And you WILL get a call every night at around 2am from some jerk in another office across the country who has a completely non-urgent question. Huge staff reductions and everybody is expected to just work longer and harder instead of reasonable staffing. 2 hours mandatory overtime every day, plus you will have to come into the office at least twice per month on the weekends for an 8 hour shift. Many very, very, rude attorneys that will go out of their way to try and get you fired if you tell them that their request is not possible or against policy. Company policy does not matter at all if somebody wants something bad enough. Then you get reprimanded by your boss because you didnt' bend over backwards to break policy for some low-rung associate that thinks they are a hotshot because they went to Harvard. Management is disconnected and actively works to find ways to give you a bad review at the end of the year. Pathetic yearly bonuses and raises for support staff. One year I got $50, before taxes. THANKS, but that doesn't make up for the job ruining my relationships with my family and friends.
