      Decent Pay, Strong Engineers - Staff Engineer Koalafi Employee Review

      Pros

      1) Meetings are brief and content dense. Scrum done extremely well. 2) Unlimited snack and drinks at Arlington WeWork. 3) Solid encouragement of 9-5 of work no pushing to due overtime unless desired 4) Team lunch paid usual for on Fridays 5) Great place for mid-level engineers to learn at their own speed, I was given about 3 months to learn parts of the stack I was missing (a great stack, bleeding edge) and also to learn the domain.

      Cons

      1) Slack politics was a bit out of hand but ultimately resolved properly. 2) Not enough direction at times on what to work on which has pros and cons. 3) Onboarding was inefficient, didn't get access to multiple Repos for several weeks nor a comprehensive explanation of the domain.

      Pros

      Great company to work for. I have an awesome and collaborative team, even though I work remotely. My manager is awesome, supportive and has the experience, and is great at holding-me accountable to our goals. I get unexpected holidays and look forward to going to work every morning.

      Cons

      The tech-support needs help with understanding how Territory managers work, and deal with their daily travel schedule.

      Pros

      Koalafi has been an incredible learning opportunity for me and I've been able to build expertise in a variety of areas while shaping strategic initiatives for the company. I consistently feel supported and coached (and pushed!) by my amazing leader. The team is highly motivated and full of smart people that are great to work with. Comp and benefits are very good. I feel motivated by the mission of the company to help folks get access to important things that they would otherwise not be able to afford, all while helping them rebuild/repair their credit.

      Cons

      We've had a lot of transition in the past ~year with a CEO departure, interim period, and bringing on a new CEO. That has at times made it harder to embrace our value of "focus on what's most important" as priorities shift. The work is still moving forward but it feels like there's opportunity for increased precision and efficiency.
