It's a volatile industry with lots of competition which makes them very susceptible to economic impact. During the time I worked there, there were constant changes in leadership. In addition, there was very little empowerment given to employees which added to a feeling that we weren't trusted to make any decisions at all without approval from higher ups. It often felt like the higher ups making decisions had a fundamental lack of understanding of what our role/function in the company was and a heavy emphasis was given to "productivity" that didn't translate to our daily responsibilities. Their expectations were more aligned with a call center with a focus on just pumping out calls but our success was measured by growth that is impossible to achieve with that mentality. I was unceremoniously laid off along with dozens of others without warning. I wasn't even allowed to retrieve personal belongings from my desk until days later. HR offered no support and has yet to reach out with with anything other than standard off-boarding paper work.
