Pros
Kognito is a company that is working to do something positive for the world, and its hard to put a price on not feeling like a manipulative burden that is part of the abuse of millions like many many other possible businesses you could work for. There were some issues with work overload for a brief period of time due to the unexpected leave of a couple important team members but if you give the current management input, there is an actual active attempt to solve most issues over time and there was an understanding of the priorities that had to be placed. The current manager of my team was the first manager I ever had in a professional career that took responsibility for their team and did their best to find a balance of what fell on the team while not shoving unreasonable expectations onto me. I owe a lot of my professional development to them and I know that I am prepared for my next job. I left on good terms and would have stayed if it weren't for personal circumstances. I don't know how things are now, but when I left there was extensive restructuring happening because they had just been acquired. Kognito was doing its best to keep a solid start-up atmosphere and I still felt like I was able to make important decisions.
Cons
I didn't feel properly compensated for my work load at times, but I honestly blame myself for not being able to negotiate properly and being hard on myself too often while not valuing myself enough. They literally pulled me in a meeting and told me I wasn't valuing myself enough.
