Pros
The company itself is pretty great with good benefits for it's full time associates. As a sales lead (this position has many names) you get paid for holidays, even if you don't work it. You get discounts and exclusive coupons for associates only. Being a lead is very tough jobs especially if your department falls in Misses Junior's or Men's(my department). Your completely responsible for your department including merchandise flow, presentation, clearance, and associates/specialists. Expect to work with vendors just about every week. Some will come in and do their job without even a hello to you but others want you to babysit. Remember you are a leader in the store. You can even utilize people outside your department. It's a very proud position however read the cons...
Cons
Being a lead is really a glorified full time sales associate. You're directly responsible for the department but there are many other people above you that can make you feel like your not in charge of it at all. Your direct Area Supervisor and Assistant Manager have say over you and will both give their opinions on how things should be done. On top of that, other managers might have a word or two for you. Other lead, at least in my store, constantly judge your department. I was the most hated lead, even though I had a very large department, no soft-line experience, and there hasn't been a lead in months, I was criticized constantly by them. Remind you all of them were offered my position but none wanted the workload that comes with men's. No overtime which sucks because there is NEVER enough hours in the day. Your constantly called to ring, to E3, online shipments, or even mend another department.
