Pros
Flexible schedules. At least one weekend off a month. Competitive pay. Decent (not great) benefits.
Cons
BEWARE! LITTLE ROOM FOR ADVANCEMENT WHEN YOU REACH THE AREA SUPERVISOR LEVEL. As an area supervisor, we are in a difficult position. We aren't completely management, but we are considered more than an average associate. In many ways we have the same responsibilities as executive managers. The problem is that MITs are constantly being brought into the company straight out of college, and they always get priority placement every time executive positions open up. Meanwhile, I have seen many knowledgeable, valuable, and experienced area supervisors who have been with the company for years, sometimes decades, get frustrated and eventually leave the company because of this. To be fair area supervisors do get promoted to executive positions from time to time, but that is by far the exception rather than the rule. It makes me feel like I am treated as something less than someone who does not even work for the company yet. I figured out that it would actually be easier for me to get promoted if I were to give my two weeks notice and immediately turn around and apply for the MIT program... its that messed up.
