Pros
If you are a person who does well with multi-tasking, this is the job for you. On any given day you may be on a register, merchandising, doing markdowns, helping customers, or keeping a department straight. A person will never get bored. The management seems to be aware of special circumstances in every day personal life and can make accomodations in scheduling to help those who have issues at home or for those that are students. Most of the associates develop a comraderie to help each other with the tremendous workload. There is also opportunity for those without a college education.
Cons
Having a job at Kohl's means that you have a job that will be very demanding. There is never enough time for training so each person has to be extremely self-motivated to learn all aspects of the job. The demands are so great that everyone is overstressed and overworked. This workload causes some tempers to flare and there is alot of blame-shifting when work is not completed. The pay is another downside. I have worked for Kohl's for nine years and did not get a significant pay raise until I became an area supervisor. Raises are not performance based which causes associates to be lax in their work habits
